OUR CHARITIES

The mission of the Channel Islands Gulls is to raise money for Ventura County non-profit organizations who do not receive Federal funding. In the past two years we have donated nearly $100,000 to the following organizations. In addition to opening their wallets, the Gulls open their closets, their food pantries and their hearts by giving of their time to the organizations we help.

The Channel Islands Gulls give more than money to our charities – we give of ourselves: our time and talents.  We keep track of our members’ volunteer hours for our charities on a yearly basis to assist with grant proposals.

Every organization we support can use YOU in some way.

  • California Coastal Horse Rescue welcomes people to come and work with children at the ranch, help with events, work with the horses and fundraise.

  • Caregivers, Volunteers Assisting the Elderly needs volunteers to visit their clients, drive clients to appointments and provide companionship.  They also need donations and sponsors for their annual Charitee Putt Putt Golf Tournament.

  • The City Center needs tutors, along with evening childcare when the parents attend sponsored events or classes.

  • Forever Found can use good quality donations of clothing and household items for the Second Story boutique in Simi Valley.

  • The Lighthouse for Women and Children can use women’s professional clothing and tutors in the afternoon for the school age children who live there.

  • Many Meals of Camarillo needs volunteers to help coordinate and serve their dinners on Mondays and Thursdays.

  • NAMI – The National Alliance on Mental Illness is interested in expanding its board of directors.  Help is also needed with the annual NAMI Walk in the fall.

  • Project Understanding needs tutors for fifth graders after school at their county-wide tutoring centers.

  • Ribbons of Life Breast Cancer Foundation needs book donations specific to the topics of breast cancer for its lending library.  Knitting supplies are also needed.

  • Safe Passage needs you to partner with them for their literacy, education, science, and mentoring programs.

  • St. Vincent De Paul needs non-perishable food and cleaning supplies for their food pantry.
